Bulldogs Make the State Semifinals! 

On Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25 the Romeo wrestlers competed in the team state quarterfinals and semifinals.  In the quarterfinals the Bulldogs faced the two-time defending state champions Davison Cardinals.   Romeo came into the match as the underdogs, but, wrestled with composure, heart, grit, and pride.  At the end of the match Romeo became the first team in school history to reach the state semifinals!

In the semifinals Romeo had Catholic Central the #1 seed.   The Bulldogs gave everything they had, but, CC turned out to be a little too much.  Romeo ended up losing to the eventual champions, but, they can certainly hold their heads high.  They represented their team, school, and community very well.  

A special thanks to all the parents, fans, and alumni who came to support the team.  It was great seeing everyone cheering and supporting our team.  We have a great group of parents who helped with rides and supervision.  It was much appreciated!!  

The whole weekend was a great experience from the Friday morning workout at Three Rivers High School, to the walking in the parade on Friday and Saturday, to team dinner on Friday night, to competing with the best of the best!

Bulldogs Continue to Set Records! 

On Saturday, February 18 the Bulldogs entered a team record 14 wrestlers into the Individual Regional Tournament.  At the end of the day, Romeo still had 13 wrestlers alive to represent our team at the Individual State Finals at Ford Field on Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4.  Thirteen state qualifiers is a team record and concluded an incredible week after winning the Team Regional Tournament.  

The Bulldogs continue to improve and establish themselves as force in the state.  There were some terrific individual efforts, but, everyone wrestled hard and can be proud of their effort!

 Wrestlers Avenge Lost – Win Team Regional 

On Wednesday, February 15 the #6 ranked Romeo Bulldogs met the #4 ranked Dakota Cougars in the first round of the Team Regional in what ended up being the match of the evening.  Dakota had beaten Romeo 44-19 the first time they met, but, the Bulldogs came in with a full line-up and a different attitude!

Romeo spotted Dakota an early 21-9 lead after 6 matches before the Bulldogs ran off 5 straight wins.  It was 31 – 24 Romeo going into the last two matches before Romeo got a tech fall to put the dual meet out of reach.

The Bulldogs had Rochester Adams in the finals after they beat Troy High School.  It was all Romeo in the finals!

The Bulldogs won their 7th Team Regional Championship overall and the first since 2011.  Romeo advances to the state quarterfinals in Kalamazoo on Friday, February 24.  

Bulldogs Make History – Advance all 14!! 

On Saturday, February 11 the Bulldogs entered the Individual District Tournament at Dakota High School with 14 wrestlers and left with all 14 wrestlers still alive for the Individual Regional Tournament held at Chippewa Valley next Saturday, February 18.  This is the first time in school history Romeo has advanced all 14 wrestler to regionals.  Romeo had 10 wrestlers in the finals with 6 champions!  It was a tremendous accomplishment and a terrific start to the state tournament series.

Bulldogs Win Team District 

On Wednesday, February 8 the varsity wrestlers competed in the team district tournament at Romeo High School.  The Bulldogs opened up with Port Huron Northern and dominated the meet from start to finish.  Next up were the familiar Tars from Anchor Bay.  Romeo continued where they left off and won in convincing fashion to capture the team district title.

Bulldogs Compete at MAC Red/White Tournament 

On Friday, February 3 and Saturday, February 4 the JV and varsity wrestlers competed in the MAC Red/White Tournament hosted by Warren Mott High School.  It was a great showing by the Bulldogs and a fantastic way to head into the post season.  It was the last tournament for the JV westlers and they did themselves proud.  There was a tremendous amount of growth shown throughout the season.  It was especially nice that many of our JV wrestlers placed and earn medals for all their hard work!

The varsity team also fought hard and represented themselves well!  With some varsity wrestlers being held out for maxing out their number of matches and others for getting healthy, the wrestlers who were entered into the tournament wrestled like champs!

 Surprise, Surprise….. There was a three way tie for the MAC Red Dual Meet Championship.  We found out Anchor Bay won their dual meet against Dakota on a technicality creating a three way tie between the Anchor Bay, Dakota and Romeo.  All three schools were awarded MAC Red Dual Meet Championship plaques!
