Romeo Crowns TWO All-State Wrestlers!

Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7

The Individual State Final Wrestling Tournament at Ford Field on March 6th and 7th is the place to be if you are a high school wrestling fan in Michigan.  All four divisions come together in one venue and the top 16 wrestlers in each weight class square off for some of the most exciting wrestling matches of the season.  There are 20 mats on the football field and that’s where it all takes place!

Romeo started the morning before weigh-in with 5 competitors.  After the weigh-ins, the Bulldogs only had 4 wrestlers. It was a rough start to the tournament, but, there is no time to hang your head at this tournament.  Bounce back is the name of the game. All four Romeo wrestlers made it through the first round so things were starting to look up for the Bulldogs. The next couple rounds would determine who would be considered All-State.

The Romeo wrestlers represented themselves, their team and their community with the kind of heart, sportmanship and determination you would want to see from the champions that they are.  All the coaches, friends, family, and fans should be very proud of how well our wrestlers competed. We all didn’t reach our ultimate goal, but, it was not because of lack of effort! Romeo ended up with two guys on the podium and many great memories from the past season
